Dwyer, a Catholic moral theologian, will address vision and values of American Catholic higher education at Sept. 20 program

CHICAGO (Sept. 9, 2004) – Saint Xavier University President Judith A. Dwyer will deliver this year’s Sister Josetta Butler lecture, to be held 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 in the Butler Reception Room on Saint Xavier University’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. Admission is free.

Renowned in the academic community for her work as a Catholic moral theologian, Dr. Dwyer’s presentation is titled, “American Catholic Higher Education: Vision and Values.” The lecture is presented by Saint Xavier’s Department of Religious Studies. “We’re proud that the Butler lecture series has brought a number of distinguished speakers to campus and we’re delighted that Dr. Dwyer has decided to join that series.”

“I am certain Dr. Dwyer’s message will both challenge and inspire all who hear her,” said Dr. Kathleen Waller, chair for Saint Xavier’s Department of Religious Studies.

The event honors Sister Josetta Butler, RSM, and past president of Saint Xavier. In addition to the lecture series, Saint Xavier also honors Sister Josetta through a scholarship named for her. The scholarship is one of the most generous offered by the university to an undergraduate student.
