CHICAGO (Sept. 18, 2003) – Saint Xavier University has announced the recipients of its 2003 Alumni Recognition Awards, to be presented Homecoming Weekend at the Alumni Award Ceremony and Brunch, 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 5.
Ms. Patty Kiefer (’66) is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. Kiefer, a resident of Virginia, is president of Credo International, an organization that supports humanitarian and education efforts in Africa.
The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes personal and professional achievements of alumni that reflect the mission and values of Saint Xavier.
Mr. Jerry Stengel (’87) was selected for the Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon Award. This award recognizes exemplary volunteer service and support of the university and its alumni association. Stengel, an Oak Lawn resident, has been a long-serving member of the Alumni Board of Directors.
The regional director of development for the Vision MRI Center in Oak Brook, Stengel is the most recent past president of the SXU Alumni Association.
Ms. Cynthia St. Aubin (’01) will receive the Faith in the Future Award. A resident of Blue Island, Aubin is the director of nursing recruitment and the Nursing Career Center at University of Chicago Hospital.
The Faith in the Future Award is presented to a recent graduate (ten years or fewer) who has achieved outstanding personal, professional or social accomplishments.
This year’s Saint Xavier University Alumni Association Faculty Recognition Award will go to Dr. Margaret Carroll of the School of Education.
The association created this award to recognize a faculty member who has served the university community for at least five years and exhibits values of service, leadership, spirituality and commitment to student welfare.
