Saint Xavier Holds Ye Olde Homecoming

Medieval theme adopted for Oct. 3-5 festivities

CHICAGO (Sept. 19, 2003) The lords andladies of Saint Xavier University are called upon to celebrate this year’s homecoming celebration – a weekend full of activities beginning Friday, Oct. 3 with school reunion dinners for SXU alumni.

An array of festivities round out the weekend. Homecoming revelers must not miss the big game, when Saint Xavier’s Cougar football team takes on the University of St. Francis at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4.

Alums can register at the Alumni Tent for a free football ticket. Post-game, those 21 and over can continue the celebration at Gilhooley’s 5th Quarter Tent Party.

The Tailgate Tent will remain open for 90 minutes after the game; the $5 per person includes beer, wine, pop and snacks.

The weekend wraps up with an Alumni Mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 in the McDonough Chapel. The annual Alumni Awards Ceremony follows at 11 a.m. in the formal reception room.

Being honored this year are: Ms. Patty Kiefer ’66, Distinguished Alumni Award and Mr. Jerry Stengel ’87, Sister Dorothy Marie Peschon Service Award.

The Faculty Recognition Award will be given to Dr. Margaret Carroll, School of Education. Sunday’s events are followed by a Farewell Brunch at 11:30 a.m.
