SXU to Dedicate Building to Brian and Sue Shannon Tomorrow

CHICAGO (September 28, 2001) – This Saturday, September 29, Saint Xavier University will officially name its Convocation and Athletic Center for Brian and Sue Shannon of Burr Ridge, IL. Guided tours of the facility will be from 4 – 5 p.m. The dedication and “tailgate party” will begin at 5 p.m.

Brian and Sue Shannon’s gift of $1 million during the early phase of the Campaign for Saint Xavier proved to be a successful catalyst for additional gifts, which helped fund critical projects for campus growth. Mr. Shannon, former chairman of Berkshire Foods, Inc., served on Saint Xavier’s Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1997 and is now a life trustee. He received an honorary degree from the University in 1999.

The Brian and Sue Shannon Convocation and Athletic Center is an 85,000 square foot facility which serves the University’s athletic and special event needs. It features the Main Arena, which seats as many as 3,500 people, Campus Bookstore, Cougar Pause snack bar, fitness and weight room, running track, and Athletics Department offices.
