August Denhard to Perform Renaissance Recital at Saint Xavier University

CHICAGO (October 19, 2000) -- The Saint Xavier University Music Department continues its Classics at Noon series with a Renaissance Lute Recital by August Denhard on Friday, November 10, in McGuire Hall from 12 p.m. – 12:50 p.m. Early Music Specialist August Denhard will present a recital of solo music for Renaissance lute, including works by Richard Allison, Nicholas Vallet, and Robert Ballard.

August Denhard has led performances for Ardo Opera and the Bloomington Early Music Festival. As a performer on lute, theorbo, and baroque guitar, he has appeared with the Benevolent Order of Music for the Baroque, Chicago Music of the Baroque, the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, and Camarata Pacifica Baroque. In addition, Denhard is the founding member of the Baroque Trio, Liaison, and Naked Fifth. Both groups were named as finalists in the 2000 Dorian/Early Music America Recording Competition.

A suggested donation of $5 is requested for the general public and $3 for senior citizens and students with ID’s. Admission is free for Saint Xavier faculty, staff, and students.
