Saint Xavier University's School of Education Distinguished Alumni Honored

CHICAGO (October 23, 2000)---Saint Xavier’s School of Education recently honored a few of its distinguished alumni during the university’s annual homecoming weekend. "Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, Embrace the Future," was the theme of the inaugural banquet for the award recipients. The School of Education chose one recipient from each decade, from the 1960’s through the 1990’s. The award’s criteria include Scholarship, Professionalism, and Service to the Community.

The recipient from the 1960’s was Therese Houilan O’Neil. She graduated in the class of 1960 and is currently a teacher for an infant/kindergarten/primary program at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Day Care Center. Therese has been an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy for 17 years. She has also served as a Eucharistic minister at the Adult Day Care Center of Lutheran General. Mrs. O’Neil currently resides in Niles, Illinois.
