Immunizations at Saint Xavier's Nursing Center

CHICAGO (October 23, 2001) – Saint Xavier University and the Chicago Department of Health will be offering immunizations from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20 at the Nursing Center at Saint Xavier, 3700 W. 103rd St., Chicago.

Immunizations available include Prevnar, Chickenpox, DTP, Hib, MMR, Polio, and Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B immunizations will be available for children who have not reached their 19th birthday. Free early childhood developmental screening will also be available for children ages six months - three years.

KIDS, the City of Chicago’s child identification program, will also be available at the Nursing Center Immunizations. KIDS is a free service to Chicago parents who wish to have their child’s photo and descriptive information securely stored in a database in the Clerk’s office. In the event that a child is reported missing to the police, the KIDS program can post the photo on the Internet and send it to law enforcement, the media and others who may be able to assist in the search for a missing child.

Due to a national shortage of the tetanus vaccine and by order of the Health Department, the Nursing Center will not give tetanus boosters to any child over the age of seven. The booster requirement is waived for entry into high school until further notice.

No appointments will be taken and patients will be seen in order of arrival. All parents must present immunization records for their children. If you cannot find these records, please contact your physician for a copy. No child will be seen without these records.

A donation of $10 per family is requested. This donation allows Saint Xavier to continue offering programs like this through the Nursing Center. The primary concern, however, is that of the health of your family and no one will be denied service.

Saint Xavier’s Nursing Center is also offering the Meningitis Vaccine, which is recommended for college students. The fee is $75. It will be available during the Nursing Center’s regular hours of operation, Fridays from noon – 4 p.m.

Limited parking is available at the Nursing Center. For further information about Nursing Center services at Saint Xavier, please call 773-298-3712.
