Coach Bob Hallberg's New Saint Xavier University Women's Basketball Team Begins Play November 8

CHICAGO (October 25, 2000) --Saint Xavier University’s new women’s basketball team begins play on November 8 on their home court under the direction of Coach Bob Hallberg.

"Our goal is to be a good team in our first season of competition," said Hallberg.

"We hope Cougar women’s basketball will be an exciting, up-tempo brand of fast break basketball that fans will enjoy."

The Cougars first home game will be played at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, in the main arena of the Saint Xavier University Convocation and Athletic Center located at 3700 W. 103rd Street, Chicago.

To encourage attendance for opening night of a new era in women’s basketball at Chicago’s oldest Catholic university, Saint Xavier’s Athletic Department is making an unusual "two-on-one ticket offer." Fans who buy a ticket to the first women’s basketball game on November 8 will also receive a ticket to watch Coach Tom O’Malley’s men’s basketball team open its season on November 15.
