Saint Xavier Nursing Students Inducted into Honor Society

CHICAGO (October 26, 2001) -- Saint Xavier University celebrated the induction of over forty new members into the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society for Nursing on Thursday, October 25. The evening began with a Research Presentation Assessing & Building Positive Work Relationships by Linda L. Olson PhD, RN, CNAA and Leslie M. Powell, MS, RN in the Formal Reception Room. Following the presentation there was a short reception and the Honor Society Inductions.

Linda L. Olson completed her PhD in nursing sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995, where the focus of her dissertation research was on hospital perceptions of ethical climate. She is currently expanding her expertise on improving the workplace environment. Linda has over 14 years of experience in various levels of nursing administration.

Leslie M. Powell received her master’s degree in parent-child nursing at Northern Illinois University in 1999; her master’s thesis was titled Nurse-Physician Collaboration. Her work as a CNS includes managing a two-year $80,000 grant to examine job satisfaction of pediatric and neonatal nurses.
