Saint Xavier Faculty Member Dr. Linda Burke Named Teaching & Learning Mentor for 2001-2002

CHICAGO (November 7, 2001) – Dr. Linda Burke, Associate Professor of Education at Saint Xavier University, has been named Teaching & Learning Mentor for the 2001-02 academic year by the SBC Ameritech Faculty Development Technology Program.

The program has supported workshops for faculty to learn how to best integrate technology in their classroom activities. Participants within the program have completed extensive research on effective practices for enhancing education through technology. Those chosen to be mentors then meet with other faculty and staff members to share information about the program’s resources and activities.

“Technology can have a significant impact on students’ learning, if it us used properly. And that is the challenge. One of the greatest benefits of the Teaching & Learning Mentor program is that we can help our colleagues learn not only how to use specific technologies, but how to use them effectively in teaching,” according to Dr. Burke. As a Teaching & Learning Mentor, Dr. Burke will instruct faculty in ways to utilize technology to enhance their teaching and expand students’ learning. In addition, Dr. Burke will serve as an on-campus link between Saint Xavier University’s faculty and the resources available through the SBC program.

Saint Xavier congratulates Dr. Burke on being named Teaching & Learning Mentor.
