CHICAGO(November 14, 2000)--Celebrate the holidays with Saint Xavier University at a Seasonal Concert for the Jubilee. Saint Xavier University Chamber Singers, Chorale, Orchestra, and Concert Band will perform on Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Linus Church located at 10300 S. Lawler in Oak Lawn.
The University Chamber Orchestra, directed by Martha Morris, will perform the first movement of Beethoven's First Symphony. Myron McReynolds will direct the Concert Band in Fantasia in G by Timothy Mahr; Alleluia! Laudamus Te by Alfred Reed; and an arrangement of Amazing Grace by Frank Ticheli. The University Chamber Orchestra will combine with the Chorale to present Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and with the Chamber Singers to present Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Jan Bickel directs the University Chamber Singers and Chorale. All four ensembles, supplemented by Saint Xavier alumni, will perform Robert Shaw’s arrangement of The Many Moods of Christmas, Suite #3 at the culmination of the program.
Dr. Avis Clendenen, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Pastoral Ministry and SXU will preside over the celebration and offer prayerful insight.
