CHICAGO (November 28, 2001) -- Saint Xavier University’s Shannon Center will be home to the Chicago Thunder, the city’s new professional women’s volleyball team of the recently launched United States Professional Volleyball League (USPV).
Four Midwest teams will play in the league’s first season, which will begin in February 2002. The teams include the Chicago Thunder, Grand Rapids Force, Minnesota Chill, and St. Louis Quest. The USPV is scheduled to expand to twenty teams by 2006, bringing professional women’s volleyball to markets around the entire United States.
The Chicago Thunder is scheduled to play the following home games at Saint Xavier University:
- vs. Saint Louis on Sunday, February 10
- vs. Rochester on Sunday, February 17
- vs. Grand Rapids on Tuesday, March 5
- vs. Grand Rapids on Tuesday, March 12
- vs. Saint Louis on Friday, April 12
Additional games will also be played at Loyola Chicago, as well as opposing team’s venues.
