CHICAGO (December 5, 2001) – Saint Xavier University welcomes John Pelrine, Jr. as its new Dean of Students.
As Dean of Students, Pelrine will serve as an advocate for Saint Xavier students. He will assist them in completing their academic programs and having a well-rounded a collegiate experience. He will also oversee Student Activities, Residential Life, Student Success Program, Learning Assistance Center, Student Media, and handle student judicial affairs.
“I was attracted to Saint Xavier because the atmosphere is clearly driven by a set of values and because the student service programs have a solid reputation, especially in the area of student retention,” said Pelrine. “ I am looking forward to impacting all service areas and to encouraging the campus to think about how we may best serve our students twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.”
Pelrine earned his master’s degree in Pastoral Studies and bachelor of arts degree in Political Science, both from Loyola University in Chicago. He is a member of several higher education organizations including the Association of College Unions-International, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the Association for Student Judicial Affairs. Prior to becoming Dean of Students at Saint Xavier University, Pelrine held many positions at Loyola University in Chicago.
John and his wife Fran have three children and reside in Chicago’s Edison Park neighborhood.
