Terms and Conditions of Use

Your Cougar Card is your official University identification and should be carried by you at all times.

You are required to present your card on request to any official or authorized representative of the University.  Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.

Lost cards must be reported immediately to Public Safety.  Call (773) 298-IDID (4343).  A fee is charged to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card.

Cougar Cards are not transferable and must be validated each semester.

Cougar Cards become void upon termination of enrollment or employment.

Your Cougar Card is the property of Saint Xavier University.

Use as a debit card requires that a Cougar Card is linked by TCF Bank to an existing deposit bank account.

Access to Funds

Although the Cougar Card is the property of the University, it is entrusted to the student as a convenience. Only the person pictured on the card is entitled to spend money from the accounts. Unauthorized use by someone other than the cardholder, as well as tampering with or altering a card, warrants confiscation and possible disciplinary action by the University.

Saint Xavier University is not responsible for the inability of the student to make a purchase using one of their accounts under, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

  • There are insufficient funds in the account at the time the purchase is requested.
  • The equipment being used to initiate the transaction is not functioning correctly at the time the transaction is attempted.
  • The University has temporarily or permanently suspended the account.

With the exception of the personal Cougar Cash account, funds in University debit accounts are removed from the accounts at the end of the academic year.  The funds in the Personal Cougar Cash Account remain available until termination of enrollment or employment.

With the exception of the personal Cougar Cash account, funds in University Debit accounts that are accessible with a Cougar Card may not be redeemed for cash at any time or at any location.

All funds deposited to a personal Cougar Cash account must remain on the account until graduation, withdrawal or separation from Saint Xavier University. At that time, a written refund request must be submitted to the Student accounts, A-209. Refunds will be processed within 30 days and are subject to a $10 processing fee. After a one-year period of inactivity, the balance on the personal Cougar Cash account is forfeited to the University for graduated, withdrawn or separated students.

Changes in Terms

All policies related to the Cougar Card are subject to change at the discretion of Saint Xavier University. Future changes in terms and conditions regulating the use of this card will apply to all cards in circulation and use at that time and will supersede the terms and conditions in effect at the time the card was issued. The University reserves the right to change any of the policies related to the Cougar Card without notice.

Privacy Policy

The University will not disclose, sell, exchange or otherwise distribute personal information, including name, address, social security number, account balance, credit card number, and bank account information to anyone, without the cardholder's consent, except as required by law.

Personal information stored in this database is considered confidential and access is restricted only to University staff who need access for maintenance of the database and those needing the data to carry out their jobs.
