Residence Life

Why live in University housing?

Our staff and residents would ask, "Why live anywhere else?"

Welcome to Saint Xavier University! We are pleased you are considering living on our growing campus.

While convenience to campus is often the number one reason students choose to join our residential community, you'll find there is much more to help you make your experience in the residence halls enjoyable and memorable.

In the place you will call "home", you'll discover opportunities for meeting other residents who have similar interests and with whom you will study, order late-night pizzas, attend Cougar athletic events, wander the great city of Chicago and engage in many other activities that are of interest to you.

Learn about the programs and services available to our residents and see for yourself the benefits of living in University housing.

  • Opportunities to meet new people and develop lifelong friendships.
  • Steps away from classes, the library, dining hall and recreational areas.
  • Nutritionally prepared all-you-can-eat meals offering multiple choices, including self-service salad bar, lunch and dinner buffet options, grill, and "made to order" deli sandwich bar. Our menu features Starbucks coffee, Caribou Coffee, Connie's Pizza and soups from Au Bon Pan!
  • Social, educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities are available in all residence halls. Intramural sports, movies, parties, etc. are samples of housing events.
  • If quiet time is what you wish, study areas are available in each building.
  • Live-in professional staff and student staff are available for support and guidance on just about any topic from academic and personal issues to career decisions. The service, skills, and time of full-time staff members are available in all residence halls.
  • Opportunity to participate in Residence Hall Association and many other student clubs and organizations.
  • Numerous opportunities for employment. Classes, computer labs, and resident rooms with Internet access.
  • Free cable television and local/long distance calling in all resident rooms. Community behavioral standards govern University housing and are in place in the event the conflicts between residents, or allegations of violations of residence hall policy occur within the residential community. These standards reflect a respect for the rights of all residents and the responsibility of all students living in University housing. These standards are in place to ensure that your experience living on campus is a positive one. Residents have easy access to tutoring and supplemental instruction and are more likely to graduate in four years as compared to commuter students.
  • Research indicates that living in University housing has a positive influence on a student's grade point average, level of involvement in campus activities, retention at the University, and satisfaction with his or her collegiate experience.
