School of Education Advisory Council

Mission, Purpose and Guiding Principles

The purpose of the Advisory Council for the Saint Xavier University School of Education is to assist the President and the Dean in advancing the School's recognition, fundraising and programs consistent with the University's mission and its strategic plan to be a top comprehensive university in the Midwest.

The Advisory Council shall be comprised of leaders in the education and civic fields, as well as alumni and friends of the University. Working in conjunction with the President and the Dean, Advisory council members shall:

  • Serve as ambassadors of the University and the School to the community;
  • Advocate on behalf of the University and the School of Education; and
  • Provide consultation and recommendations to the School of Education and Saint Xavier University. The group's role shall be advisory in nature, in order to provide advice, suggestions and new ideas to the President and the Dean.

Meetings

Meetings shall be held approximately two times a year at the call of the Chair, who shall approve the agenda.

Membership and Staffing

The Advisory Council shall initially consist of 15 - 20 people. Staff support for the Council will come from the Office of the President.

Terms of Service

Members shall be invited to serve for overlapping terms of up to 3 years.
