The School of Education will begin offering a cohort program in Counseling (School and Community) at the Orland Park Campus. Cohort programs have been designed with busy individuals pursuing a graduate degree in mind. Graduate programs offered in cohort model provide convenience with the emphasis on cooperative group work and individual and project-based learning. A group of students with similar professional goals take a set sequence of courses and work collaboratively toward their purpose. Other advantages of a cohort program include discounted tuition and guaranteed course offerings.
The School Counseling program prepares graduates to work with diverse student populations in a variety of school settings. Completion of this program leads to the Illinois Type 73, School Counseling Certification.
The Community Counseling program prepares professional counselors to work with individuals and groups who may be experienceing psychological difficulties, seeking career guidance or coping with an array of life challenges and/or transitions. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor examinations.
