In addition, partnership programs (dual admission agreements) have been initiated between Saint Xavier University and surrounding community colleges.  These programs lead to an Associate in Applied Science degree and will allow nursing graduates to smoothly articulate into the RN to BSN Option at Saint Xavier University.  Participating colleges are Moraine Valley Community College, Joliet Junior College and Prairie State College.

Why choose the RN-BSN option at
Saint Xavier University?

In October, 2007, Saint Xavier University’s School of Nursing was recognized as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing.

“This designation is evidence of the faculty’s outstanding innovation, flexibility and commitment to nursing education.”

~ Kay Thurn, October 2007

The SXU School of Nursing promotes a “culture of intentional caring” that is based on a collective vision of a supportive, trusting and collegial environment that supports student learning and professional development.

Personal and Professional Growth

“My patients and co-workers have benefited from my experiences in this program.  My knowledge base has grown more than I expected.”

~ G. Arroyo

As an RN-BSN student, you will benefit from personalized academic advising and be able to interact with faculty who understand the learning needs of the adult student returning to school. In addition, you will be able to design fieldwork experiences related to course objectives in collaboration with the faculty and collaborate with other nurses from multiple healthcare institutions as you progress through the curriculum.

A BSN degree earned from Saint Xavier University can contribute to your nursing career advancement in several ways:

  • Allow completion of the nursing curriculum in as little as eighteen months.
  • Expand your career from a hospital-centered focus to a more primary and non-structured practice in the community.
  • Provide you with strong skills in leadership and management in multiple health care settings with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention and wellness in the community.
  • Prepare you to grow in your career through credentialing and advanced practice status with a graduate degree.

“Making the decision to enroll in the RN-BSN option at Saint Xavier University has been pivotal to both my personal and professional growth.  In other words, take that first step and become part of the Saint Xavier University family…They will guide you as you take that journey in reaching your full potential.”

~ Bobbie Barcikowski
