Nursing Education in the 21st Century:
Implications of an Aging Population

June 25-27, 2008

The “graying” of the nursing profession is having a major impact on educational and health care systems across the nation. Meanwhile, the population seeking health care is increasing in age.  What implications do aging faculty, nurses in the workforce, and patients have on nursing education and nursing practice?  This question will be a central focus of the 7th Summer Institute, which will be held at Saint Xavier University, located on Chicago's far southwest side. Implications of an aging population will be explored by distinguished keynote speakers and in concurrent sessions presented by educators and practitioners from a variety of settings and locales.  This year's Summer Institute will provide opportunities for dialogue about creative answers to questions concerning the impact of aging on nursing education and nursing practice. For further information, please contact Maureen Christie at (773) 298-3706 or mchristie@sxu.edu, or see the Institute Brochure (PDF).
