New Student Pledge

As a new student of Saint Xavier University, I declare my commitment to pursue earnestly academic studies and personal enlightenment and to contribute to the University community.

I embrace the University’s commitment to truth, scholarship, and wisdom.  I will strive to live the University’s core values:  respect, excellence, compassion, service, hospitality, integrity, diversity, and learning for life.  I recognize that each new experience is an opportunity to be better than I was before.

I will strive to improve my community through active participation.  I will follow the Code of Student Conduct while maintaining personal integrity, respect for others, respect for property, and respect for authority.  I will challenge myself to contribute through my words, actions, and commitments, the qualities of Mercy:  compassion, hospitality, service, and excellence.

I will respect the dignity and essential worth of all individuals.  I will not tolerate bigotry, discrimination, violence, or intimidation of any kind.  I will promote the diversity of opinions, ideas, and backgrounds, which are vital to University life.

As a responsible member of an academic enterprise, I accept the obligation of academic honesty.  I understand that academic honesty is required to maintain equity, to respect the work of others, and to fulfill the fundamental goals of the University.

I accept the challenges of being a future graduate of Saint Xavier University and all of the responsibilities thereafter for the benefit of my community, my alma mater, and myself.
