The Student Success Program, a federally funded TRIO program, serves students who are first generation, low-income, and/or have disabilities, by supporting academic and personal development and encouraging completion of students' baccalaureate degrees through counseling, advising and supplemental academic instruction.
The Student Success Program (SSP) at Saint Xavier University is one of 900 Student Support Services programs on college campuses across the nation. The program targets students who are first generation, low-income and/or students with disabilities.
Counselors, advisors and academic instructors work as a team to promote academic progress until students complete a baccalaureate degree.
The Student Success Program is funded by the US Department of Education at $278,295 annually.
The United States is committed to providing educational opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstances. In support of this commitment, Congress established a series of programs to fulfill this mission.
These programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and are referred to as TRIO Programs. Other TRIO programs include Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Educational Opportunity Centers, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, Veterans’ Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math/Science.
The SSP staff works closely with all students to determine their area of need and to develop a strategy to meet that need. We understand that a student's success is dependent upon both academic and personal well being. In providing this holistic approach, SSP offers numerous services that address the needs of the students.
If you are interested in joining SSP, please print and complete the application (PDF) and mail it to our office.
