When a course is repeated, only the higher grade is computed in the grade-point average. In most instances, credit may be earned only once for a given course; a repeated course will be designated as such on the transcript. When a course is repeated at another institution, the original SXU grade remains on the transcript and will continue to be calculated into the GPA.
A course in which a grade of D or F was earned may be repeated only once. A course in which a "W" (withdrawal) was assigned may be repeated only once.
A student who wishes to appeal this policy should direct a petition in writing to the Director of the Office of Advising, who will forward the petition to the departmental chairperson of the department of the repeated course. The department chairperson makes the final decision. This decision will be communicated to the student via their SXU email.
