Al Rosenbloom, Ph.D.,associate professor of marketing, was the plenary speaker at the Day of Strategy (Día del Estrategia) Conference presented at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellín, Colombia. Rosenbloom’s topic was “Understanding China: Myths and Realities” and capped a day of diverse strategy topics relevant to Latin American business.
Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana is the leading, church-affiliated university in Medellín. Rosenbloom also gave a three-lecture series on “Marketing to the Base of the Pyramid” at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá. The Universidad del Rosario is a 350-year-old university, located in the historic center of Bogotá and is a leader in management education in Colombia. While in Medellín, Rosenbloom did some faculty development work at Instituto Technológico Metropolitano (ITM). ITM is a technical school whose mission is to serve extremely poor students from social classes 0-3.
Diana B. F. Ryan, Ph.D., faculty member in the School of Education, recently had a paper published in Advancing Women in Leadership Online. The paper, “Navigating academia: Two women professors collaborate for social justice,” was co-written with Susan J. Katz, Ph.D., of Roosevelt University. The article was published in Volume 25 of the 2007 Fall issue in special collaboration with Research on Women in Education (RWE). RWE is a Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) whose purpose is to promote research on women and girls in education and to facilitate communication between researchers and practitioners who are concerned about women in education and the intersection of race, class, gender and culture.
