Academic Resource Advisor

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1846, Saint Xavier University was the first Mercy College in the United States and is Chicago’s oldest Catholic university. Function: The Academic Resource Advisor provides academic advising and a variety of services to support the progression, retention, and graduation of undergraduate students. The Academic Resource advisor also designs, conducts, and coordinates activities for student enrolled in the STRONG Program, a mentoring program for African-American male students. The Academic Resource Advisor assists student in developing academic plans and monitors the academic progress of students. Participation in University activities include orientation, transfer days, the summer bridge program, and cultural events.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with experience advising, counseling, or mentoring college students or Master's degree in counseling, higher education, or related field.

Experience overcoming barriers similar to those faced by the target population.

Ability to analyze program and degree requirements.

Excellent communication and technical skills.

Understand of student populations with special academic and social needs.
