Integration of Engaged Learning

The Center for Inclusive Excellence is responsible for growing and supporting the University-wide framework to enhance curricular and co-curricular programs through high-impact practices that sustain a culture of equity and inclusion.

Year of Service is a yearlong opportunity for sophomores to volunteer in their community and practice SXU's mission and core values while increasing their sense of community and belonging.

E-portfolios provide students with an opportunity to better reflect on their professional and personal growth while connecting with faculty, staff and community. The Center for Inclusive Excellence will provide incoming freshmen with peer service leaders who will support students through this process in a way that embraces identity, promotes our Mercy mission and strives for a more socially just society.

Internship experiences for SXU students will be available. The Center for Inclusive Excellence will provide a high-engagement template for campus areas to develop inclusive and equitable on-campus internships for SXU students.

Sophomore Resource Fair is offered at the beginning of each semester where campus support offices present information, resources, employment and volunteer opportunities beneficial to sophomore and transfer students.

Express Workshops is a series of 10 workshops held throughout the year focusing on topics of self-advocacy, detailed resources and opportunities offered by the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Students who participate in at least seven workshops by end of spring semester will receive a pin at a specialized ceremony and be invited to apply as peer service leaders the following year.
