Students majoring or minoring in Biology are taught the significant facts upon which the major concepts and theories of the life sciences rest. Saint Xavier is interested in retaining and rewarding these students through financial aid.

A generous gift from the estate of Margaret "Kay" Halper, '50, will establish the Halper Endowed Scholarship in Biology. Kay Halper, a longtime resident of the Pittsburgh area who, with her husband Donald, raised seven children, died in late 2006 after a long illness. According to Donald, Kay was a very proud SXU alumna who appreciated the lifelong friendships she formed with her classmates and the education she received from the Sisters of Mercy. The Halper Endowment will provide for an annual scholarship award to a talented student majoring in biology at Saint Xavier University.
The Anthony and Pauline Giaimo Scholarship is awarded annually to a student majoring in Biology or Chemistry who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic and disciplinary standing. This scholarship is renewable so long as the student continues to meet the necessary criteria.
