Professor Paxton earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication from the University of South Florida and his B.A. from Saint Louis University. Dr. Paxton has taught several undergraduate courses including Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Communication as Performance, and Communicating Grief, Loss, and Illness. He is a strong proponent for utilizing qualitative and ethnographic methods in communication research. Professor Paxton's areas of interest involve family communication, health communication, women's and gender studies, and the complex dynamics of writing and sharing personal narrative in educational settings.
