On Sunday, October 28, the brass faculty at Saint Xavier University is hosting an exciting day of brass music, master classes, and educational clinics (and even a polka or two!).
Professor Dan Sartori (low brass), Dr. Joshua Thompson (trumpet) and Professor Paulette Velázquez (horn) are pleased to welcome high school students to offer them advanced study on their instruments. Specific master classes will include a wide range of topics, including tone, articulation, style, brass history, instrument selection, and performance anxiety.
In addition to the music and fun, all participants get to enjoy an authentic bratwurst dinner!
The educational portion of the event is open to all high school students who play any of the following instruments:
- Trombone/Bass Trombone
To participate, students simply need to RSVP by completing the online registration form on or before Friday, October 26. Band directors who have a list of students attending can instead send the list to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The student participant fee is $10 and includes the authentic bratwurst dinner before the concert.
Students will arrive and check in at 1 p.m. and all of the day's events will be held in McGuire Hall. The final concert is at 7:30 p.m. (also in McGuire Hall) and is free and open to the public.
For more information, please contact Dr. Joshua K. Thompson, director of Instrumental Activities, at email@example.com or 773-298-3422.
