At Saint Xavier University, it has never been more convenient to pursue both an undergraduate degree and graduate degree that will take your career to the next level.
SXU is proud to offer a B.S./B.A. - MBA Dual-Degree 4+1 program. This program is designed for students like you who would like to take advantage of completing both an undergraduate and graduate degree in less time than it would take to complete the two degrees separately.
Our program provides you the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of the Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in as little as five years, with up to twelve (12) hours of graduate coursework being accepted as undergraduate coursework. Note that this program is not designed for business majors.
Concurrent coursework
A total of 13 courses (39 hours) are required with non-business undergraduate majors needing 1-6 hours of foundational graduate coursework. As a student, you may take MBA coursework concurrently with undergraduate coursework during your junior and senior years with up to twelve (12) hours applied to your bachelor's degree with six (6) hours fulfilling the MBA foundational coursework requirement and six (6) hours applied toward the MBA program degree requirements.
Undergraduate
Your undergraduate major offers the opportunity to specialize in an area of specific interest and in the practices belonging to a particular field, for example:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- History
- Sociology
- Criminal Justice
- Exercise Science
- Sports and Fitness Administration
- Philosophy
- Religious Studies
- Art
- Music
*This program does not apply to Nursing majors.
Upon completion of the major, our general education provides you with a set of strategies: communication, critical thinking, information analysis, quantitative skills and responsibility toward local and global communities. You'll develop these strategies from different angles by taking one or more courses in each of the areas of our general education curriculum.
Graduate
Additionally, the MBA program, like our general education program, is designed to provide you with a strong foundation to better understanding society's traditions and past, its accomplishments and aspirations, its relation to and responsibility for the natural world, its diversity and plurality, and its problems and needs to become educated, productive citizens. An MBA builds upon this strong foundation by increasing your knowledge and developing your skills as well as acquire new knowledge and skills that increases your ability to make an immediate impact on your career -- no matter what career you want to explore -- and have a positive impact on society.
Your career development is central to this program. You'll receive guidance not only from our dedicated faculty and staff, but also a vast network of alumni eager to assist in internship and job search. Events are developed and deployed to connect you with representatives from prominent business organizations as well as not-for-profit and government entities. With an intimate understanding of business, practical experiences and a foundation in subjects such as management, accounting, marketing and finance, you will graduate with a step above your competition, ready to excel in a range of careers.
