Accounting management is the language of business that enables the development, understanding and communication of an organization's results of operations, financial position and cash flow. Gaining an understanding to master accounting can help excel your career in both commercial and non-profit domains, helping you to become an effective business leader and to do so in a manner that contributes to the common good.
Students who pursue an MBA in Accounting Management will gain an in-depth understanding of accounting and learn about auditing, tax laws, organizational efficiency, business valuation and the management of innovations.
The program provides students with the skills necessary to gain the competency to manage other individuals in accounting functions.
Students will have the opportunity to earn designations, and the program will enhance students’ technical and professional skills and preparedness to earn the following designations:
1 – Certified Public Accountant (CPA)*
2- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
3 – Certified Fraud Examiner
4 – Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA)
*Combined with an undergraduate degree in Accounting, a GSM MBA satisfies Illinois's 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA exam.
AACSB accreditation: Top 5% of business schools that offer a bachelor's degree or higher is accredited by the AACSB.
Center for Financial Fraud and Management: Receive experiential learning through SXU's on-campus Center for Financial Fraud and Management, which provides students with research opportunities.
Taught by expert faculty: Learn from faculty who are experts in their field, including certified public accountants (CPA) and licensed attorneys.
Flexibility: The MBA in Accounting Management is flexible, offering coursework both online and in-person, as well as during the evening and on weekends.

For students who have completed a BBA in Accounting and have a desire to become a certified public accountant (CPA), there is no more direct route to the exam than completing the MBA in a year. Students completing their undergraduate degree at SXU are automatically accepted into the program if they meet certain criteria.

For graduate students who do not have prior undergraduate business course experience, the required foundation modules are designed to provide a basic understanding of business essentials to prepare you for expectations in the courses and assist in your academic success.
