Hi! My name is Joanna Nemeh, and I am the director of the Learning Center.

I received my B.A. from SXU in Philosophy and my M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in Jewish Studies. I teach in the Philosophy, Religious Studies and Theology Department as well as in the Honors program. My area of concentration is in feminism, particularly Jewish feminism and the Hebrew Bible. I, along with the dedicated faculty and staff, have spent years identifying and responding to the strengths and needs of our University's evolving and growing community. The Learning Center embodies this commitment. Our skilled peer tutors and writing consultants aim to empower students. As an HSI (Hispanic serving institution) I want the Learning Center to support the historically underserved, the first-generation and multilingual students, as well as strengthen the writing and critical thinking skills of those starting, continuing, and returning to college.

I have been a member of SXU for several years (decades, really) and can answer just about any question you have. My office door is always open!

Hi, my name is Melanie Senerchia and I am the coordinator of the Learning Center

I provide administrative support to the Learning Center. As a native of Chicago, I have worked at Saint Xavier University for over five years. I am a first-generation college graduate receiving my BA from SXU in 2017 while working full time. I attribute my academic success not only to the support of my family, but the Learning Center as well. I took advantage of the subject tutoring and the writing consultations, especially when I was in Senior Seminar. I developed a strong sense of devotion to Saint Xavier University and a deep appreciation for the diverse student population and the services offered on campus and the Learning Center.

My goal is to continue to support the development of each student utilizing the Learning Center as they transition to their future careers.
