SXU Summer Camps and Courses

Saint Xavier University is proud to offer summer camp and course experiences to youth in the community that inspires creativity, expands their knowledge and physical skills, and motivates them to lead in their schools as well as their communities. Our summer camps and courses incorporate practical lessons with hands-on learning led by SXU professors and staff. Each camp is held on our beautiful University campus on the South Side of Chicago, exposing youth to the college environment and preparing them for their future; and our courses provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit toward a high-demand field of interest.

Athletic Camps

SXU Boys Basketball Summer Camp

The Saint Xavier University Boys Basketball Summer Camp is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, June 22-25, 2020 and is open to students ages 10-16. The camp will be hosted by SXU men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley, along with the SXU men's basketball coaching staff and current players.

SXU Girls Basketball Summer Camp

The Saint Xavier University Girls Basketball Summer Camp runs Monday through Thursday, July 27-30, 2020 and is open to students ages 6-14. Hosted by SXU women's basketball head coach Corry Irvin, campers will learn all facets of the game using various drills focused on improving player development.

SXU Softball All-Skills Summer Camp

Saint Xavier University is hosting its Softball All-Skills Summer Camp this summer on Friday, July 31, 2020. The one-day camp is open to girls ages 9-18 and will be led by Saint Xavier softball head coach Erin Mollohan, along with the rest of the SXU coaching staff and current SXU softball players, who will work with students to improve their game.

SXU Volleyball Summer Camp

Saint Xavier University is hosting its Volleyball Summer Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 7-8, 2020. The two-day camp is open to boys and girls from fourth to 12th grade and ran by Saint Xavier women's volleyball head coach Bob Heersema who uses passing, serving and setting drills to improve campers' skills.

SXU Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp

Saint Xavier University is excited to invite boys and girls going into first through eighth grade for its Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp from Monday through Wednesday, June 22-24, 2020. The three-day camp will be led by SXU lacrosse head coach Tom Haggerty. The camp is open to all levels of experience.

Enrichment Camps

Camp CSI - Forensic Anthropology

Camp CSI - Forensic Anthropology will run Monday through Friday, July 6-10, 2020. This camp is intended for students entering grades 7-9 who are interested in forensic science and crime scene investigation. Students will excavate a crime scene, collect evidence and analyze data.

Health Careers Exploration Camp

New this year, Saint Xavier University will host its Health Careers Exploration Camp for students in grades 7-12 interested in learning about nursing and exercise science, in addition to communication sciences and disorders. The camp will be offered Tuesday through Thursday, June 23-25, 2020.

Jazz Summer Camp

Saint Xavier University is pleased to announce its SXU-Southside Summer Jazz Camp returning this summer, running Monday through Friday, July 13-17, 2020. The camp is open to students in grades 6-12 and provides students with the opportunity to learn from and work with Saint Xavier's accomplished group of jazz educators who will help them gain their confidence and improve on their abilities as section players, improvisers and sight-readers.

Student Media Summer Camp

The Saint Xavier University Student Media Summer Camp will run Monday through Friday, June 22-26, 2020. The camp is open to incoming high school freshmen through graduating seniors. This year's camp is focused on radio broadcasting. Campers are able to learn about radio broadcasting with our own radio station, WXAV!

Immersion Courses (College credit for high school students)

Intro to Business Course

The Introduction to Business course will run Tuesday through Thursday, June 2-11, 2020. This course provides an introduction to the world of business, as students learn about business structures of sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations. Students are encouraged to utilize creative and critical thinking skills in teams with "Shark Tank"-like presentations and SWOT analyses (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) of major corporations.

Intro to Nursing Course

High school students who aspire to pursue the health care industry will be introduced to nursing practice while earning college credit in this summer course held from Monday through Thursday, July 13-23, 2020. Learn from faculty with real-world experience and tour SXU's innovative simulation labs.

Intro to Speech-Language Pathology Course

High school students can receive an introduction into the ever-growing profession of speech-language pathology while earning college credit in this summer course held from Wednesday through Friday, June 15-24, 2020. Students will visit Saint Xavier's Ludden Speech and Language Clinic, which is available to the public as a service, and a simulation lab, as well as explore tools that are used for treatments.
