Saint Xavier University is dedicated to providing top-quality education that is intentionally designed to develop your skills and expertise as you prepare for the next step in your education or career. The learning outcomes reflect the specific competencies that you will gain from our Philosophy program and our Religious Studies program, while the curriculum map portrays how these competencies will shape and prepare you for the real world.

Courses taken in fulfillment of the major in Religious Studies will be assessed with regards to four learning objectives (two of which will vary according to track):

Level II Objective

Most courses in the major satisfy the Level II requirement in Religious Studies. As such, they share an objective that encompasses critical thinking within the field:"Recognize and apply methods for the interpretation and application of sources of tradition."

Religious Studies Capstone Objective

Regardless of their track, all majors in Religious Studies will be assessed in the capstone objective associated with mature engagement with the phenomenon of religion: "Complete research necessary to explore students' own interests."
