How to Apply for Aid

To be reviewed for financial aid eligibility, Saint Xavier University requires students to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

While December 1 is SXU's priority filing deadline, many sources of funds are only awarded until funds are depleted. Therefore, it is recommended that you file your FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1 the year before you plan to enroll at SXU, and each subsequent year you plan to attend, in order to receive all funds for which you qualify.

In order to file the FAFSA as soon as possible, consider estimating your income information. The prior year's taxes are a good basis for your estimates, adjusting as necessary. Once your taxes are complete, update your FAFSA by logging in and selecting the option to Make Corrections. Then select the option to Link to the IRS (PDF) in order to import your tax data directly. After any adjustments to your application, resubmit your FAFSA changes for processing.

Saint Xavier University's school code is 001768. Be sure to include SXU on your FAFSA so that your eligibility for aid at SXU can be reviewed.

Once you are an admitted student to Saint Xavier University and your valid FAFSA results have been received, an award letter detailing your estimated financial aid will be sent to you.

Your award letter is an estimation based on current FAFSA results and federal/state regulations, as well as an assumed housing and enrollment plan. If your housing plans or anticipated enrollment change, notify the Office of Financial Aid so that your aid can be revised.

Disbursement of financial aid awards, for all eligible students, occurs at the start of each term.

If you have questions about your awards or would like information about additional lending that may be available, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

Study Abroad

Students who are planning to study abroad apply for aid in the same manner as those who are studying on campus or online. Several study abroad programs are approved for credit at SXU, allowing for many forms of financial aid to be used. If you have already completed your FAFSA for the year in which you plan to study abroad, it will be used to determine your eligibility for study abroad financial aid.
