MC Math Secondary Education Transfer Guide

The following transfer guide is between Morton College (MC) and Saint Xavier University (SXU) for the Math Secondary Education major. The student would receive an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from Moraine Valley and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Math Secondary Education from SXU.

The Mathematics Department at SXU strives to build a strong sense of community among faculty and undergraduate students in exploring the beauty and importance of mathematics. Mathematics is an integral part of a liberal arts education and is the foundation for many areas of study. Students who major in mathematics/ secondary education are prepared for teaching positions devoted to helping students develop the analytical and quantitative skills necessary for success in any career.

As a member of the IAI (Illinois Articulation Initiative), our participation allows students to follow a general education curriculum that will transfer smoothly to Saint Xavier University. All students who have completed the IAI general education core curriculum (IAI/GECC) are required to take two further mission-based courses at Saint Xavier University, these are: Philosophy 150: The Examined Life and one religious studies course.
