Education Department Admission Requirements
Students admitted to the University as Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Middle Level and Secondary Education majors must comply with the Education Department admission requirements in order to be granted full admission to these initial licensure programs.
Freshman Teacher Candidates
Requirements for consideration for full admission to SXU's Education Department as a freshman education major:
- Minimum 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative high school GPA
- Additional materials (including ACT or SAT test scores) may be requested if we feel it will help our Admission Committee make a more informed admission decision.
Freshman applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for full admission will be considered for admission to the University as an Undecided major.
Undergraduate Transfer Teacher Candidate
The requirement for consideration for full admission to SXU's Education Department as a transfer education major is a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative college GPA.
Transfer applicants with fewer than 30 college credit hours completed must submit a final high school transcript or GED score report. High school transcripts must meet the minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA requirement.
Transfer applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for full admission to Education can be considered for admission to other University programs.
