Alumni Virtual Book Club
This past February we launched a virtual book club for Saint Xavier University Alumni. The group is an online community where alumni can connect with each other and enjoy fascinating books related to lifelong learning, social issues, business, psychology and more.
Participation is completely free for Saint Xavier University Alumni.
Discussion on our next featured book, The Line Becomes a River by Francisco Cantu, will begin the week of November 26.
You can sign up at Professional Book Club (PBC) Guru's website or keep reading to learn more.
How it Works
The book club will connect through a private online forum where people can discuss the current book and network with each other. Joining the book club is completely free for alumni; you just have to get a copy of the book to enjoy. The group will read a book every two months so you will have plenty of time for each book. You can sign up and learn more at PBC Guru's website.
Why Should You Join?
There are three main reasons we hope you'll be excited to participate in a book club group:
- Connect with Fellow Saint Xavier University Alumni: Want to connect with intelligent, driven and interesting people? Joining the book club will introduce you to Saint Xavier University Alumni across industries, generations and geographies to help you improve your network.
- Advance your Career: A professional book club enhances your career on two fronts. First, the books you read will make you more effective in areas critical to success like leadership, communication and productivity. Second, the network you will be building can help you with career advice, introducing you to the right people and finding your next job.
- Reading is Good for You: Did you know business people who read at least seven business books per year earn over 230% more than people reading just one book per year? In addition, reading improves your intelligence, reasoning ability and has been linked to reducing the chance of Alzheimer's. Joining one of our book clubs will help you read more and enjoy all the benefits that come with it.
The book club will be managed by PBC Guru which manages professional book clubs for companies and alumni associations. They will be moderate the group to help make this program a great experience for all participants. Please email them at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or visit their website to see more of what they do.
