How does academic freedom apply to our students? What guidelines from the American Association of University Professors and elsewhere can help protect students at a university?

Student rights in the classroom, in inviting guest speakers, in challenging professors, in social networking and in Rate My Professor are some of the dimensions that will be examined. Are their limits to students' academic freedom?

Join us October 24 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Boardroom. The attending panel includes:

  • Tony Campbell, Ph.D., vice president for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
  • Peter N. Kirstein, Ph.D., professor of history, previous vice president of Illinois-AAUP
  • Sarah Minnich, senior, history and philosophy major
  • Paige Samuels, senior, political science major

The moderator will be Neil Younkin, Ph.D., associate professor of the Graham School of Management, president of AAUP chapter.
