Stained Glass

The SXU Wind Ensemble's fall concert, entitled Stained Glass, will feature an evocative program that will be sure to entertain all. The concert will start with Robert W. Smith's wedding fanfare, "Covenant." The ensemble will pay homage to the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Michael Colgrass with a performance of "Old Churches." In a combination of old and new, the ensemble will also explore "a la Machaut." This 2015 work is created by young composer Andrew Boss, which takes its inspiration from Guilliame de Machaut, the 14th century poet and composer who is regarded as one of the most important musical minds of all time. The Wind Ensemble will close the concert with Frank Ticheli's powerful "Angels in the Architecture," which looks at the eternal struggle of light versus darkness, through the lenses of songs of faith in the Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish traditions.

General Admission - $6 / Seniors and Military - $5
