Biography

Gisselle Lopez is a Mexican American alumna of Saint Xavier University. Lopez graduated from SXU in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in English global literature and a minor in philosophy. Currently, Lopez works in the Office of Admission at SXU and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in management. In the future, she wishes to obtain a master of fine arts in English or creative writing, as her dream is to become a new adult/young adult novelist. When she isn't working or studying on campus, Lopez loves to read, write, participate in fun and nerdy activities like Dungeons and Dragons, and play with her beloved pets: Luna, Laika and Cincinnati.

What makes SXU different from other universities?

What sets Saint Xavier University apart from many universities is its strong sense of community. Classes are smaller and more intimate, so students and professors can form strong, professional relationships that follow the students even after graduation.

What's a favorite memory of your college years at Saint Xavier?

Some of my favorite memories from my undergraduate years are from when I studied abroad in England at the University of Oxford during the summer following my junior year. It was such an enriching experience, both academically and leisurely. Much of what I learned during my time there elevated my motivation and inspiration for my senior project. I had so much fun, and I wish I could do something like that again!

What do you do for fun?

I like to write short stories in my free time, though nothing is published yet! I also love to read, go out with my family, work on creative videos on my laptop, and I'm gradually getting into cross-country.

Favorite television show?

"Supernatural!" I also love watching shows like "The Walking Dead," "Grey's Anatomy," "Sherlock," and "Criminal Minds."

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could travel anywhere, I would go back to Oxford, England! I would also love to visit more of Europe in general and see Ireland, Spain, Scotland, and more.
