Biography
Dr. Arunas Dagys is a professor in the Mathematics Department in the College of Arts of Sciences. He has been an active member of the Saint Xavier University faculty since 1976. Dr. Dagys has Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Arts degrees in Mathematics, all from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Professor Dagys' teaching interests lie in Calculus, Advanced Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Applied Mathematics, and Developmental Mathematics.
Dr. Dagys has a very strong interest and commitment to improving post secondary teaching and learning in mathematics. He also has interests in effective and innovative use of instructional technology throughout the mathematics curriculum, and a special interest in developmental mathematics.
Professor Dagys has written texts in Foundations of Managerial Mathematics, Business Statistics, Advanced Calculus, and co-authored texts in Liberal Arts Mathematics (with Dr. Abdul Wazwaz and Dr. Tom McGannon) and in Mathematical Probability and Statistics (with Dr. Tom McGannon).
In addition, Dr. Dagys has received the Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Award in Arts and Sciences and the Saint Xavier Award for Outstanding Teaching, Scholarship and Service to the University.
