Nancy Ortiz-Romero

Nancy Ortiz-Romero received her Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University and a master's degree in social work from Loyola University. Prior to coming on board at SXU, she worked as a mental health practitioner for Metropolitan Family Services. In her 15 years of practice, she worked with families, adults, youths and communities, all culminating in positive behavioral outcomes within diverse populations.

Ortiz-Romero also taught in the criminal justice department at Westwood College, delivering classroom lectures and connecting with college students. Today, she is excited to be part of SXU and provide students with the support, guidance and resources to help them continue their success in higher education.

As the director of Student Support, Ortiz-Romero oversees the Student Success Academy and the Rebound Program.

In addition, Ortiz-Romero is an instructor for TS 100, ACSU 130, ACSU 200, advisor for the Pre-Physician Associate Society Club, and serves on various committees at SXU.

In her spare time, Ortiz-Romero enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, camping and gardening, and she loves soccer.
