Stacie R. Ward-Santangelo is a professor and lecturer of nursing and health sciences at Saint Xavier University in Chicago. Ward-Santangelo has extensive experience as a board-certified advanced practice nurse in the Chicagoland area and is board-certified in advanced heart failure and cardiology.
As an advanced practice nurse, Ward-Santangelo practices in a private internal medicine practice focusing on cardiac and heart failure patients. She also rounds at several local hospitals and extended care facilities, keeping her clinical skills and practice guidelines up to date.
Ward-Santangelo received her bachelor's in nursing from Saint Xavier University and her master's in nursing and advanced practice degree from Rush University. Her residency hours were completed at the University of Chicago.
Ward-Santangelo is considered an expert amongst her peers and colleagues in advanced heart failure programs, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation. She is highly motivated and has a keen interest in research, guideline-directed therapies, and the education of practitioners, students, and patients/families.
Ward-Santangelo is a fierce patient and student advocate. She regularly collaborates with her colleagues to ensure the most comprehensive education and experiences for her students, patients, and families entrusted to her care.
Ward-Santangelo has a distinct passion for patient advocacy, autonomy and diplomacy. She acts without seeing barriers to promote the best outcome according to the person's wishes and beliefs.
