International Financier, Chicago Media Leader and South Side Native James C. Tyree to Speak at SXU on Feb. 3
Mesirow Financial Chairman/CEO and Chicago Sun-Times Media Holdings LLC. Chairman is Featured Speaker at “Breakfast with the Experts”
Chicago (Jan. 14, 2010) Chicago-based business and civic leader James C. Tyree kicks off the 2010 Breakfast with the Experts speaker series at Saint Xavier University. Tyree is chairman and CEO of the international financial services firm Mesirow Financial, with more than $36 billion under management and $467 million in revenue. Tyree also is chairman of Sun-Times Media Holdings, LLC., which owns the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper plus more than 50 other suburban newspapers and associated websites. He will speak with a Chicago perspective on national and world business issues relating to finance and media, and then answer audience questions.
The event is sponsored by Saint Xavier University and the Beverly Area Planning Association, and begins at 8 a.m. on Wed., Feb. 3 in the Warde Academic Center’s Butler Reception Room at the University’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. Tickets are $20 for the public and $15 for BAPA Members. Tyree grew up in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood and suburban Oak Lawn. His first jobs were delivering newspapers, the Beverly Review and the Southtown Economist (known today as the SouthtownStar). He earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA at Illinois State University prior to joining Mesirow Financial as a research analyst in 1980. He became Mesirow Financial’s president in 1990 and has been chairman and CEO since 1994. He is chairman of the board of City Colleges of Chicago and is chairman of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. He serves on several business, educational and charitable organizations’ boards.
