SXU's Merwick Academy summer sessions

Registration for classes begins May 30

Chicago (May 12, 2006) – Registration for elementary and high school summer tutoring classes at Saint Xavier University’s Merwick Academy begins Tuesday, May 30.

Two three-week summer sessions are available, each offering one-hour classes Monday through Thursday for elementary and high school students. Session I runs June 19 through July 7, and Session II runs July 10 through July 27. The Merwick Academy is located at The United Methodist Church of Mount Greenwood, 11000 S. St. Louis Ave., Chicago. 

Elementary classes will focus on math, reading, language arts and writing, Spanish and study skills and are offered at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. High school classes will focus on English/literature, Spanish I & II, history, math, science and religion and are offered at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Classes are $175 per student, with a $50 nonrefundable deposit required at time of registration.

Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Registration for both sessions begins May 30 and closes June 15 for Session I, and July 6 for Session II.

The Merwick Academy provides tutoring for elementary and secondary students of public, parochial and private schools in the Chicago area. Founded 40 years ago, the program allows students of different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, abilities and sexes to interact in the learning process. The Merwick Academy works with parents, teachers, counselors and administrators to meet the needs of the individual student.
