Robert Tenczar appointed Vice President for University Relations
Selected from more than 300 applicants in a national search
Chicago (June 6, 2006) – Saint Xavier University has appointed Robert Tenczar as its new vice president for University Relations.
Tenczar brings to the University almost 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing and Catholic higher education, first at the public relations firm of Jasculca/Terman and Associates in Chicago, and later at Lewis and Benedictine universities. Most recently, Tenczar was the director of communications for Community Consolidated School District 15, a position that he has held since August 2000. In that capacity, he helped lead the school district to the 2003 Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.
“Saint Xavier University has long embraced academic and institutional excellence, as evidenced by its core values of respect, excellence, compassion, service, hospitality, integrity, diversity and learning for life,” Tenczar said. “I want to help increase public awareness of Saint Xavier’s strengths and potential to further enhance the University’s mission, teachings and reputation.”
Selected from more than 300 applicants in a national search, Tenczar received his B.A. from the University of Saint Francis in Joliet and completed graduate work at Northern Illinois and Benedictine universities.
In selecting Tenczar for this Cabinet position, Saint Xavier University President Judith A. Dwyer, Ph.D., said, “We will work together to advance the mission of the University and, through his efforts and those of the Office for University Relations, to increase the University’s regional and national visibility.”
Tenczar will oversee efforts in media and community relations, marketing, publications, special events and the Saint Xavier Web site and online newsletter and work to synchronize those efforts to craft cohesive messages about the University.
A member of the National School Public Relations Association and the Public Relations Society of America, Tenczar is a frequent speaker at numerous organizational conferences. His work has earned many awards from the Public Relations Society of America, Admissions Marketing Report, National School Public Relations Association, and American Society for Quality.
