Date:12/21/2016

On Wednesday, December 7, Saint Xavier University's (SXU) School of Education (SOE) administration, faculty, staff, adjunct faculty, members of the SXU Ministry, mentor teachers, family and friends gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the fall, 2016 Student Teachers. The theme of the ceremony was "Teacher's Light the Way." Eight multi-categorical special education candidates; 20 elementary education candidates; eight secondary candidates; and two K-12 candidates were presented candles and certificates by their university supervisors.

In addition, the recipients of the Sister Mary Dominick Merwick Award and the Sister Irenaeus Chekouras Award were recognized. The event took place in the McDonough Chapel and began with a welcome from the Dean of SOE, Dr. E. Suzanne Lee, followed by the invocation, the presentation of the Ritual of Light, and musical interludes. Three student teachers each shared their path to becoming a teacher. The members of the School of Education are proud of the fall, 2016 Student Teachers.
