SXU's Meg Carroll presented to diverse metro area faculty in August

On Thursday, August 11, Saint Xavier University's (SXU) School of Education (SOE) Professor Meg Carroll, Ed.D., gave a workshop at Richland School (Crest Hill) on behavior management to paraprofessionals who work with students with low incidence disabilities in the Lockport Area Special Education Cooperative (LASEC). On Monday, August 15, she presented to the faculty of Saint Mary Star of the Sea in West Lawn (Chicago) about differentiating instruction and assessment.  Prof. Carroll gave a similar presentation on differentiation to the faculty on Saint Helen in Ukrainian Village (Chicago) on Tuesday, August 16.

On Wednesday, August 17, Prof. Carroll presented to the faculty of Holy Family Elementary School in Bensenville (Joliet diocese) about managing student behavior with dignity and positive supports and, later that day, she met with the faculty of Saint Joseph Elementary School in Elgin (Rockford diocese) and provided strategies for teaching reading and writing to diverse learners.

On Thursday, August 18, Prof. Carroll presented to two different groups of faculty at Wright College about accommodations for adult learners with disabilities. On Friday, August 19, she and SOE colleague Tara Joyce presented a full-day workshop for Title I teachers who work for the Academic Achievement Institute Corporation. The workshop, on "Response to Intervention," emphasized intervention and assessment tools for reading and math, informed Title I teachers who serve Chicago neighborhood schools: Saint Ethelreda Elementary School in Auburn Gresham, Saint Nicholas Elementary School in West Lawn, and Holy Angels Elementary School in Bronzeville.
