Mercy Word of the Week

Date:07/11/2016

The Mercy Word of the Week

As we progress through the Jubilee Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, University Ministry offers our community a "Mercy Word of the Week" to help us focus on the themes of mercy that are already so closely aligned to our mission and heritage as an institution sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.

The first Monday of each month will bring a brief reflection on each of the University's Core Values as expressions of our Mercy charism. We hope these focused thoughts will lead to your own considered contemplation on mercy and its role in your life.

Community: In our many communities, whether family, work, church, neighborhoods or clubs, there is ample opportunity to practice and receive mercy. All that is required is for us to care for one another, to resist the powers of evil that divide us. We need to look for ways that offer shelter and freedom to all who are estranged from us or from one another.

Mercy in community will call us to be patient and adaptable so that we may in self-criticism and dialogue bring harmony to our communities. It is not easy to do this, but it is so necessary if we are to bring about peace and the joy of being together in a bond that forms a real human community. Let us go for it together!
