Mercy Word of the Week

Date:08/01/2016

The Mercy Word of the Week

As we progress through the Jubilee Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, University Ministry offers our community a "Mercy Word of the Week" to help us focus on the themes of mercy that are already so closely aligned to our mission and heritage as an institution sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.

The first Monday of each month will bring a brief reflection on each of the University's Core Values as expressions of our Mercy charism. We hope these focused thoughts will lead to your own considered contemplation on mercy and its role in your life.

Love One Another: Princess Diana of Wales once said, "I knew what my job was; it was to go out and meet the people and love them." Virtually every spiritual tradition reminds us of this core value and purpose in life. We are simply to love others and grow in our capacity to express and fully communicate that love. In order to truly love another, we must heal ourselves and, as we gain strength, be willing to reach out and risk. Therein lies the heart and soul of a whole and meaningful life. To live is to love and it is really that simple. May we begin with ourselves and then allow our love to overflow to others.
